Energy Efficiency Is In
Significantly cutting down on your bills is definitely in this year! High-efficiency products and appliances are in demand, and they range from appliances, to windows and doors, to shower heads and even toilets!
Check out our earlier blog on why we highly recommend choosing ENERGY-star windows and doors.
Open It Up
Not long ago, it was unheard of to have an open floor plan adjoining your kitchen and living/dining room into one gigantic space. These days, separate rooms and walls are quickly becoming a thing of the past! Knocking down walls and gathering together family and friends in one big open space has become the norm in many renovation projects.
Spicing up Shower Time
A significant number of bathroom renovations will not include tubs this year. Large—particularly custom-designed tiled and glass showers—are on the rise in many homes, as homeowners are looking to embellish the ‘shower experience’ rather than the ‘tub experience’. No more shower curtains, either!
Goodbye to Granite?
For the longest time, granite was the go-to material for countertops. Recently, there’s been a shift as a more diverse selection of materials are becoming available, and affordable. Glossy-looking Quartz, for example, is a great alternative to granite. While heavy, it is also very sturdy and durable, is easy to clean, and comes in a wide array of colours.
In Living Colour
Speaking of colour—green, lemon, yellow, orange and turquoise are here to stay in 2014. Home renovation trends for this year show that these colours are becoming even more popular, along with other standouts such as nectarine and red. We are certain these ideas have warmed you up a little!
